Plan overview

MinnesotaCare from Blue Plus is a healthcare plan for people who need affordable healthcare but don’t qualify for Medical Assistance, Minnesota’s Medicaid program.

MinnesotaCare from Blue Plus is available in all Minnesota counties except Ramsey and Scott.

The monthly cost (premium) depends on your income and family size. You may need to pay a copay (a dollar amount) for some services or when you get your medication.

When you choose to join Healthy Rewards, you and your family can earn rewards when you complete certain preventive screenings and healthy activities.

BlueRide Transportation

BlueRide℠ offers you a safe and reliable ride to covered medical, dental and pharmacy visits with providers in your plan’s network, and more.

(Available for pregnant women and members under age 19)

Case manager

If you have a major illness, injury or chronic health condition, a case manager can help you find providers, answer questions between appointments and more.

Registered and experienced nurses are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week when you need medical advice or guidance on where to go for care.

Learn to Live

Learn to Live is an online program that's available anytime to help you work through stress, insomnia, depression, substance use and anxiety. 

Behavioral health services

Mental and emotional wellbeing are important parts of your health. This plan includes a range of care for mental health and substance use concerns, including virtual and telehealth visits, inpatient and outpatient services, and more.

County car and booster seat program

Pregnant Blue Plus members and children under the age of 9 are eligible to receive car and booster seats.

Eligible members living in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, St. Louis and Blue Earth counties can contact Everyday Miracles directly. All others can contact their local County Public Health office.

As a member of MinnesotaCare, you choose a doctor or clinic from our network to be your primary care clinic. They will get to know you and keep all your medical records in one place.

A pharmacy network is a list of pharmacies (drug stores) where you can get medicine at lower prices. Choose from many pharmacies in our network.

You may have to pay more for your medicine if you don’t use a pharmacy in our network.

Appeals

You have the right to ask for an appeal if you don’t agree with our decision to deny, reduce or terminate a service.

An appeal is when you ask us to look again at the care we denied to make sure we made the right decision.

Renew your coverage

If you have Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or MinnesotaCare, your health insurance needs to be renewed annually. Avoid losing your health insurance by being prepared for your renewal and ensuring your address, phone number and email address are always current.
