Plan overview

Blue AdvantageSM Minnesota Senior Care Plus (MSC+) from Blue Plus is a healthcare program for people age 65 and older who qualify for Medical Assistance (Medicaid).

MSC+ is available in all Minnesota counties except Itasca county.

You do not have to pay a monthly fee (premium) for this plan.

This plan helps you pay for:

Basic medical care

Doctor visits, medicine, preventive care, hospital stays and more

Dental care

Check-ups, cleanings and fillings*

Vision

Eye exams and glasses

Hearing

Covers routine preventive hearing examinations

Behavioral health

Treatment for mental health issues and substance abuse

Emergency care

Serious conditions that require immediate medical attention

Find a doctor in network

As a member of the Minnesota Senior Care Plus plan, you choose a doctor or clinic from our network to be your primary care clinic. They will get to know you and keep all your medical records in one place. You don’t need a referral to see a specialist if he or she is in the network.

This Blue Plus health plan has a list of drugs that it covers. It’s called a formulary. You may pay more for drugs that are not listed on the formulary.

This plan covers basic dental services including check-ups, cleanings and fillings.

For dental care, use the Delta Dental online dental directory. You must enter your zip code and select the "Minnesota Select Dental Network" to view dentists that are in-network.

Appeals

You have the right to ask for an appeal if you don’t agree with our decision to deny, reduce or terminate a service.

An appeal is when you ask us to look again at the care we denied to make sure we made the right decision.

Renew your coverage

If you have Medical Assistance (Medicaid) or MinnesotaCare, your health insurance needs to be renewed annually. Avoid losing your health insurance by being prepared for your renewal and ensuring your address, phone number and email address are always current.
