The American Rescue Plan Act may help you get more savings and lower costs on your health insurance.
The American Rescue Plan Act may help you get more savings and lower costs on your health insurance.
It includes an increase in the amount of tax credits that MNsure enrollees get to help pay premiums. It also includes expanded tax credits to middle-income Minnesotans who previously fell outside income limits for financial help. The increase in benefits means Minnesotans who get health insurance through MNsure can find a plan with premiums that cost no more than 8.5% of your household income.
In 2022, these enhancements were extended for three years in the federal Inflation Reduction Act.
If you bought health insurance directly through Blue Plus, rather than through MNsure, you may want to switch to a MNsure plan during open enrollment. You'll need to cancel your current Blue Plus plan.
Consider buying a plan through MNsure by Dec. 18 for coverage that starts Jan. 1, 2025 or by Jan. 15 for coverage that starts Feb. 1, 2025.
