What is included in health insurance quotes?

A health insurance quote is the monthly cost of health insurance. This is also known as the monthly premium. That cost is based on these factors:

  • Coverage for you only, or you and family members (a family plan has a higher premium)
  • Deductible amounts (a plan with a higher deductible has a lower premium)
  • Coverage amounts (a plan that provides more coverage has a higher premium than one with less coverage)
  • Network (a plan with a larger network has a higher premium than one with a focused network)

What are other costs of health insurance?

The cost of health insurance includes the monthly premium as well as out-of-pocket costs you are responsible for paying for healthcare services. These costs include deductibles, copays and coinsurance. The deductible is the amount you pay before insurance kicks in. The copay and coinsurance are the amounts you pay for covered services.

Premiums are set each year. Out-of-pocket costs vary, based on the plan you select and the healthcare services you use.

How do I select a health plan?

Blue Plus offers three plans for individuals and families; the plan available to you depends on where you live in Minnesota. Learn more about these options.

During open enrollment or if you qualify for a special enrollment, use the plan selector tool to compare plans and get a quote.

If you have a special life event, such as marriage, new baby, or loss of job, you may generally apply for healthcare coverage within 60 days of the event. Review the life change information carefully to understand your eligibility and when you need to apply.
