Exclusive agreement with Minnesota Oncology transforms traditional oncology care.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota has entered an exclusive arrangement with Minnesota Oncology that changes the way cancer care is managed and paid designed to deliver optimal health outcomes at lower costs. This collaboration transforms traditional oncology care delivery into a robust, multidisciplinary, value-based care model. 

Patient-centered cancer care

Blue Cross members receive exceptional care enhanced with a broad suite of services that address all the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis: physical, emotional and financial. Patients have access to state-of-the-art therapies, including Minnesota Oncology's robust research program, that includes more than 200 clinical trials.

All aspects of care are managed by a Care Coordinator, who is a key member of the care team and works closely with the patient’s doctor. From the day of diagnosis, advanced practice providers and social workers support the physician’s treatment plan and help patients maintain their highest quality of life during treatment and in the months and years to follow. 

Additionally, patients have access to:

• Care 24 hours a day, seven days a week
• Mental health screenings 
• Financial counseling 

Expedited authorization

Because Minnesota Oncology treatment plans meet strict guidelines for care, coverage will be, in most cases, automatically approved or expedited, which minimizes the time between diagnosis and start of treatment.

Unlike traditional hospital and large clinic settings, Minnesota Oncology is a specialized medical group dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders, all in a warm and welcoming, neighborhood environment.

No additional fees

All Blue Cross commercial group members are eligible for this program and there is no additional fee for employers.
